WHAT is EICYAC ….?!

EICYAC is short for ECPAT International Child and Youth Advisory Committee

Don’t worry it’s not all that complicated as it might sound

WHO we are….

We are a group of young people from all over the world who fight against Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (or short CSEC)

As you can see from our long and complicated name we are affiliated with a wider network called ECPAT (End Child Prostitution Pornography And Trafficking of children for sexual purposes) that exists of 84 organisations in 75 countries

EICYAC members are between 16 and 25 years old and have had some experience on CSEC, mainly through their connection with regional ECPAT groups or other Ngo’s

WHY we are important…

…EICYAC fights for a world in which no child is commercially sexually exploited. And we make sure children and young people can be involved in this fight, by linking up with youth groups and working to include those who have experienced CSEC and those at risk.

… we want to make sure policymakers listen to children and youth - the real experts on this matter - to come up with better solutions!

WHAT we do…

…we support and initiate child and youth projects all over the

world as much as we can

…we coordinate our own projects in the regions and present

EICYAC there

…we try and strengthen and increase the child and youth

participation within ECPAT International and beyond

…we receive a lot of training on issues related to CSEC,

networking and campaigning skills and much more

….so you can see we are really active !

WHEN it all began…

We are actually still quite young as our first members were only elected by the second ECPAT general assembly in the year 2002. However, we started growing quite a bit and in 2005 already 7 regional representatives and a representative to the general board of ECPAT were elected…

And now we keep on growing…
