CYA (Committee for Youth Action) ECPAT Austria

We are a group of young students of different faculties, such as law, tourism and international development. We have become involved with the fight against commercial sexual exploitation of children. Our main concern is to give children and young persons a voice and empower them through active, participative work as well as via information campaigns. CYA’s field of activities include designing and implementing projects which deal with educating and sensitizing, supporting projects and campaigns and organizing topical workshops and trainings. Some of our latest activities have been:

• Participating as “young observers” at the ECPAT Austria national Trainings on child trafficking (within the Trafficking IV Project)
• Participating in writing the Austrian Alternative report on the Implementation of the OPSC (Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Child Pornography)
• Participating at the yearly mobile and safer Internet day
• Educating tourism agencies on the dangers of commercial sexual exploitation of children in tourism on the International Day of Children`s Rights- see attached report “international day of the rights of the child”
• Creating materials on “The safe use of the internet and the dangers of child Pornography” and performing peer- to peer workshops on the basis of this material
